Give Yourself Another Chance

Individual therapy, with me, will be about building a trusting and secure relationship, where you will be encouraged and challenged to explore and make meaning of your world.

Therapy is the process of learning to understand and take control of our internal world, these are our thoughts, emotions and body sensations, and our external world which are our behaviours.

People often wonder why they cannot seem to “do it on their own”.

We live in a world where we have many relationships, some good and some not so good. Our relationships have the ability to build us up or tear us down.

Therapy is about being in a relationship with your therapist where you are truly known by someone, encouraged, challenged and safe. Your therapist will apply different approaches and techniques to help you reach your goals and make a life worth living.

Issues addressed in individual therapy range from anxiety and depression to anger management, as well as parenting to working through important decisions.

If you are exploring my webpage then you already have an idea of what you would like to work on.

Letters EMDR written on wooden irregular blocks. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reproces

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR engages our natural psychological and emotional healing system to help us heal from disturbing memories.

We know there is a natural healing system in that two people can go through very similar difficult or traumatic life circumstances and one will have lasting effects and the other may not.

EMDR is different than other therapies in that it does not require going over your story over and over as in other therapies.

What is Trauma

Trauma is the often lasting effects of negative life evets, experienced through our emotions, physiology (our body) and thoughts.

Trauma can result from car accidents, war, physical or sexual assault or long term child hood abuse or neglect.

Trauma can also result from very bad relationships or other negative life events.

Trauma can have an affect in our daily lives such as feeling unsafe, to flashbacks of traumatic events.

Trauma overwhelms our emotional and psychological systems causing damage.

Physiotherapy helps our physical body heal from a traumatic event.

Psychotherapy or therapy helps us heal from the effects of trauma to our psychological and emotional systems.

What is email counselling

  • Email counseling is a process conducted through a secure electronic mail platform. As opposed to face to face in an office or through a two way video service.

  • Like face to face counseling you will develop a relationship with your counselor, and you will create goals to focus your exchanges.

  • Your counselor will respond to your emails in a thoughtful way designed to help you move toward your stated goals.

  • Like face to face  counseling you may have homework or tasks assigned to complete, also designed to help you achieve your goals.
